Nanofabrication Engineer

Himax IGI designs and manufactures innovative micro- and nanostructures for use in displays, optics, 3D-sensing, telecommunications, biomedical applications, and more. Himax IGI provides custom solutions – from design to master mold fabrication and nanoimprint replication – for startups, universities, and Fortune 500 companies alike. We are seeking a talented and hands-on Nanofabrication Engineer to join our technical team and help drive the development and optimization of our fabrication processes.

Position Overview

As a Nanofabrication Engineer at Himax IGI, not only will you be a core contributor to standard processes, but your work will also include the implementation and optimization of exciting new capabilities within the company. This is a highly hands-on role suited for someone who thrives in a cleanroom environment and brings both technical rigor and creative problem-solving to complex process challenges. The ideal candidate will have the drive to be an expert in multiple disciplines of nanofabrication and nanotechnology.

Required Qualifications

  • M.S., or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, Chemical Engineering, or a related field
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience in a micro/nanofabrication cleanroom environment (academic cleanroom experience considered)
  • Meticulous attention to detail and strong documentation habits

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with advanced lithography techniques (photolithography, e-beam lithography, two-photon, nanoimprint) including grayscale lithography
  • Familiarity with resist characterization and lithography process optimization
  • Experience with reactive ion etch, deposition, and other standard nanofabrication processes
  • Familiarity with SPC and DoE methodologies
  • Understanding of cleanroom protocols, safety practices, and contamination control
  • Strong analytical skills and experience using metrology tools (SEM, AFM, etc.)

Work Environment

This position requires regular work in a Class 100/ISO 5 cleanroom environment. Candidates must be able to wear full cleanroom garments (bunny suit, gloves, goggles) for extended periods and work with chemicals following established safety protocols.
