Digital Photography Teaching & Leadership Internship – Summer 2026

Spend the Summer of a Lifetime at Camp Danbee!

Camp Danbee is offering a Digital Photography Teaching & Leadership Internship for college students who are passionate about photography, education, and working directly with young people.

Located in the beautiful Berkshires of Massachusetts, Camp Danbee is a traditional overnight camp for girls where creativity, confidence, and community are at the heart of everything we do.

As part of our Journalism & Media Program, this role is focused on teaching a Digital Photography class to campers—not social media or marketing work.

The Role

This is a dual-role position, combining classroom-style instruction with cabin mentorship.

Program Instructor (Digital Photography Teacher)
You will lead structured, age-appropriate classes that teach campers the fundamentals of digital photography in a hands-on, engaging way.

Topics include:

  • Camera basics (composition, lighting, framing)
  • Capturing portraits, action shots, and candid moments
  • Creative storytelling through photography
  • Photo selection and basic editing
  • Encouraging creativity and confidence through visual expression

This is a teaching-focused role. Ideal candidates enjoy working with children and are excited to help beginners learn—not just create content themselves.

Please note: This position does not focus on social media management, branding, or marketing.

Cabin Counselor (Youth Mentor)
You’ll also live in a cabin with 10–12 campers and two to three co-counselors, serving as a mentor and role model throughout the summer. You’ll help guide daily routines, build relationships, and support campers’ social and emotional growth.

Internship & Professional Development

Through your experience, you will:

  • Develop teaching and instructional skills
  • Learn how to engage and manage groups of young learners
  • Build leadership and communication abilities
  • Gain experience adapting lessons for different ages and skill levels
  • Strengthen your ability to guide creative work in others

We are happy to work with your university to provide internship credit, evaluations, or documentation as needed.

The Perks

  • Salary starts at $2,300 (college freshman level, with increases for each year of college)
  • Travel allowance provided
  • Room & board included (housing, meals, and laundry)
  • Staff t-shirts provided
  • Opportunity to earn internship credit*
  • Join a creative and collaborative staff community in the Berkshires of Massachusetts

*Internship credit depends on your institution’s guidelines.

What You’ll Gain

  • Real-world teaching and leadership experience
  • Confidence leading creative classes and working with youth
  • Strong communication and mentorship skills
  • A meaningful summer helping others grow creatively
