Community Engagement & Outreach Intern

Reports to: Fundraising Manager
Location: On-site / Hybrid
Hours: 10–20 hours per week
Duration: Summer, Winter or Semester-based Internship
Compensation: Unpaid / Academic Credit

Position Overview

Mariners Inn Human Services is seeking a Community Engagement & Outreach Intern to help broaden community awareness and strengthen relationships with partners, supporters, and stakeholders. This role focuses on outreach activities, public‑facing engagement, and support for community‑based initiatives that align with the organization’s mission.

This internship is ideal for candidates interested in community outreach, nonprofit communications, social impact, or human services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support community outreach efforts to promote awareness of Mariners Inn Human Services
  • Assist with building and maintaining relationships with community partners, businesses, and supporters
  • Help prepare outreach materials, presentations, and follow‑up communications
  • Represent the organization at community events, meetings, or tabling opportunities as appropriate
  • Assist with coordinating community engagement activities connected to fundraising campaigns or events
  • Provide administrative and logistical support related to outreach efforts

Qualifications

  • Current undergraduate or graduate student, or recent graduate, in social work, communications, nonprofit management, public relations, marketing, or a related field
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Comfortable engaging with diverse community members
  • Organized, proactive, and detail‑oriented
  • Ability to represent Mariners Inn Human Services in a professional and positive manner
  • Interest in community impact and human services work
