High School English Teacher

Primary Job Functions:

  • Teaches content and skills in English language, literature, composition, and reading to high school students.
  • Adapt English material and methods to develop relevant sequential assignments and lesson plans that guide and challenge students.
  • Evaluate academic and social growth of students, prepares report cards, keeps appropriate records to include attendance reports, checklists, census forms, and other recordkeeping activities as necessary.
  • Encourage students to think independently and to express original ideas.
  • Evaluates each student’s progress in meeting the course standards for English skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing).

Qualifications:

Qualified candidates will have a strong interest in educating young people. Prior experience teaching similarly aged students is preferred, but not required. All candidates must either hold a current Ohio teaching license or have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree and a willingness to obtain the required teaching certification. They must also be able to pass FBI and BCI background checks and complete the Diocese of Toledo VIRTUS program.

Salary and Benefits:

This position is a full-time, salaried position with a 10-month contract including options for annual renewals. Salary will be commensurate with experience. Competitive benefits are offered to all employees.
