Summer Camp Basketball Counselor

Basketball Counselor – Summer 2026

Location: Naples, Maine
Dates of Employment: June 20 – August 13, 2026
Compensation: Starting at $400/week (based on experience)

Position Overview:
Camp Takajo is seeking passionate and energetic Basketball Counselors to coach, mentor, and lead campers in a dynamic and competitive basketball program. Counselors will work with campers ranging from elementary through high school, helping players develop skills, confidence, and a love for the game in a fun and structured environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Coach and instruct basketball fundamentals including shooting, dribbling, passing, defense, and game strategy
  • Lead daily drills, skill sessions, and competitive games
  • Organize and officiate leagues, tournaments, and special events
  • Coach intercamp games and prepare teams for competition
  • Serve as a positive role model and mentor for campers
  • Supervise campers in both program and residential settings
  • Collaborate with staff to support overall camp operations
  • Assist in maintaining equipment and facilities
  • Complete an end-of-summer program report to support future development of the basketball program

Qualifications:

  • Completed at least one year of college or equivalent experience preferred
  • Strong basketball background (playing and/or coaching experience)
  • Ability to teach and engage players of varying skill levels
  • Leadership, communication, and teamwork skills
  • Experience working with children preferred
