Supply Chain Intern

Scope of Responsibility

The Supply Chain Management Intern is a hands-on learning opportunity for a motivated college student eager to apply classroom knowledge in a real-world manufacturing environment. This role offers exposure to end-to-end supply chain operations, meaningful projects, and the chance to work side-by-side with experienced professionals. Location: Buursma Plant (4950 37th St. SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49512)

 

Shift: Day shift

 

Target Pay: The target starting base salary for this position is $18-21 / hour. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Cascade Engineering considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

 

General Responsibilities

  • Assist in monitoring inventory levels and coordinating with suppliers to ensure timely replenishment
  • Assist in preparing, cleansing, and validating master data for WMS and TMS system implementations or upgrades
  • Define flow of material from warehouse storage to work cells to guarantee machine and labor efficiency
  • Support the analysis of demand forecasts and inventory data to optimize stock levels
  • Contribute to the identification of process improvement opportunities within the supply chain
  • Assist in managing documentation related to orders, shipments, and inventory
  • Establish physical receiving locations(s) to ensure on time inventory transactions and movement to warehouse/work cell as necessary
  • Participate in cross-functional meetings to understand the interaction between different departments in the supply chain
  • Assist in preparing reports and presentations to communicate supply chain performance metrics
  • Interact with employees at all levels of the organization and cross-functionally to develop a global understanding of the business and its needs
  • Review items, location, customer and vendor data to ensure accuracy, completeness and standardization across systems
  •  Performs additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives

Required 

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field with a sophomore, junior or senior level academic standing
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and trends
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365
  • Detail-oriented and capable of multitasking in a fast-paced environment
  • Enthusiasm for learning and a proactive approach to problem-solving

 

Preferred 

  •      Prior internship/work experience in a manufacturing setting
