SY 2026-2027 - 3rd to 5th Grade Spanish Teacher

DC Bilingual Public Charter School is recruiting Spanish-speaking Upper Elementary Teachers to provide highly effective, rigorous, and data-driven instruction to students in 3rd through 5th grade. Teachers will play a critical role in advancing DC Bilingual’s mission by delivering high-quality instruction within our Two-Way Immersion bilingual program, ensuring academic excellence while honoring students’ linguistic and cultural identities. The Spanish Teacher serves as the primary planner and instructor for Spanish Literacy and Science, and is responsible for establishing a strong learning culture supported by clear systems, routines, and expectations. Teachers are expected to collaborate closely with intervention teachers, including Special Education teachers, Language Specialists, Spanish interventionists, and Instructional Specialists, who support the classroom throughout the day.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide rigorous instruction to students by creating a safe, nurturing, and intellectually challenging learning environment.
  • Implement the DC Bilingual content curriculum, school-wide instructional strategies, non-negotiables, and best practices with fidelity.
  • Establish and maintain a strong classroom culture using clear systems, routines, and procedures that promote student independence and engagement.
  • Design data-driven classroom lessons and unit plans that meet all standards and objectives by differentiating instructional levels so that all students can access the curriculum, content, and concepts. All plans and assessments must be approached collaboratively with co-teachers, the instructional support team, and other staff.
  • Formally and informally assess student progress using standards, formative and summative assessments, and analyze the data daily, weekly, and quarterly using school-wide data trackers to drive instructional decisions. 
  • Complete individual student progress reports and conduct individual parent-teacher conferences every quarter, and additionally as needed.
  • Build strong partnerships with families through ongoing, positive, and professional communication.
    Engage families through conferences, home visits, and school events that promote active participation in student learning.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development, including various modalities of coaching; receive and provide critical feedback and implement all learning in the classroom; participate in grade-level team meetings and student-focused meetings
  • Promote family engagement by developing a partnership with caretakers through ongoing positive communication, home visits, and other activities that encourage active participation in student learning
  • Adhere to the No Nonsense Nurture expectations for managing student relations and behaviors
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Abide by the DC Bilingual 7 Agreements
  • Attend school-wide Justice, Equity, and Inclusion trainings and affinity group meetings
  • Demonstrate dedication to the Professional Learning Community (PLC) by supporting school-wide initiatives and programs
  • Other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, Elementary Education, Early Childhood Education, or equivalent
  • DC Praxis Passing Score
  • Native Spanish speaker
  • Bilingual preferred but not required (Spanish/English)
  • Demonstrated ability to work with students and families from diverse backgrounds
  • Preferred two or more years of experience (preferably in an urban or culturally diverse setting)

 

SUPERVISORY REQUIREMENTS

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
