Student Cybersecurity Analyst
Under the direction of full time staff in the University Technology Services Security Office, the Student Cybersecurity Analyst will have the opportunity for hands-on experience in the exciting field of Information Security, including but not limited to:
- Monitoring performance and health of network and security devices.
- Monitoring and analyzing firewall / security device configuration, logs, reports and scan results.
- Conducting network and application security scans
- Auditing firewall rules and configuration.
- Researching new technologies related to network and Information Security
- Assisting with security device management including firewalls, MFA, VPN, and Security Information & Event Management (SIEM)
- Create SIEM alerts and dashboards.
- Respond to security alerts and incidents.
- Participate in Information Security related projects assigned by staff members.
- Assist in coordinating, planning, and executing of large scale projects.
- Perform Physical installation of Information Security equipment.
- Assist with Software Security Reviews.
- Work on compliance related projects.
Job Requirements:
- Be able to lift at least 25 pounds.
- Interact with individuals with diverse technical backgrounds.
- Be able to work a minimum of 15 hrs per week during the fall and winter semesters and 30 - 40 hrs per week during the summer semester. (Monday through Friday between 8am - 5:00 pm.)
- Can work on-site, remote, or a combination of both.
- If working remote, must be able to work on-site at OU when needed.
- Strong communication and analytical skills.
