Comet Cupboard Onboarding Management Intern

Hours and Compensation:

  • Must be available to work 12-15 hours per week at $15 per hour

 

Timeline:

Commitment and Requirement:

  • Must be available to start the week of May 25, 2026
  • Must be available to work 12-15 hours per week at $15 per hour
  • Some evening and weekend hours are required to support special events and outreach activities.
  • Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs. The job involves frequent lifting, bending, stooping, reaching, and climbing
  • Must be certified to drive a golf cart. To be certified to drive a golf cart at the University of Texas at Dallas, the intern must possess a valid class C Texas Driver’s license and must be over 18 years old before the start date of the internship

 

Learning Objectives:

The intern will gain practical experience in volunteer management by implementing and improving the pantry’s existing training program for new volunteers. They will also assist with documenting and creating training programs for new student interns, ensuring consistency and quality across all roles. Through these responsibilities, the intern will strengthen communication and leadership skills, learn to evaluate training effectiveness, and apply problem-solving strategies to enhance program quality. Additionally, they will use tools such as GivePulse, Qualtrics, Loop and Excel for volunteer tracking and reporting, and build professional networks with campus stakeholders to support pantry operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Implement the pantry’s existing volunteer training program 
  • Recruit and coordinate volunteer leaders to assist with facilitating training sessions for new volunteers in the pantry 
  • Schedule and lead training sessions for all volunteers and interns, while assisting with documenting and creating training programs for these roles 
  • Enhance and maintain training materials including manuals, guides, and videos by incorporating interactive elements and producing high-quality video content to support onboarding and trainer resources 
  • Gather feedback from trainees and identify areas for improvement 
  • Collaborate with pantry staff to ensure updates aligned with compliance and operational standards 
  • Maintain accurate records of training completion and attendance
  • Other duties as assigned to support the pantry’s operation

Skills Required:

  • Experience in video creation and editing tools.
  • Shows initiative and will accept a variety of tasks
  • Possesses good time management skills and the ability to make independent choices and prioritize tasks when given predefined tasks. Consistently self-directed and able to focus quickly and clearly on assigned tasks
  • Reliable and punctual
  • Demonstrates strong written and oral communication skills
  • Feels comfortable speaking in front of groups regarding the Comet Cupboard’s mission and processes
  • Understands and embraces the mission of the Comet Cupboard and all programs under the auspices of the Office of Undergraduate Education (OUE).
  • Maintains a professional, receptive, and personable composure in the office, during OUE events, and at all other times when representing OUE. Adheres to office dress and etiquette policies.
  • Asks for help in clarifying or accomplishing tasks, as needed.
  • Possesses basic productivity software skills (including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.). 

 

Training requirements after the start date, provided by the Comet Cupboard and the University of Texas at Dallas:

  • Golf Cart Certification
  • Food Handler Certification
  • FERPA Training
