Position Objectives:
The Jacob Burns Film Center is seeking an Assistant Camp Coordinator to join our team at its Media Arts Lab Summer Camps. The Assistant Camp Coordinator works closely with the Camp Coordinator and Director of Education to ensure the smooth day-to-day operation of camp, supporting instructors, counselors, and campers across all filmmaking and animation groups. This role is a key part of the camp's leadership team, helping to create and maintain a safe, fun, collaborative, and empathetic environment for students in 4th through 12th grade.
The Assistant Camp Coordinator serves as a go-to resource for staff and campers alike, helping to manage logistics, communicate across teams, and step in wherever support is needed. The completion of a First Aid/CPR course and some additional training hours will be required prior to the start of camp and will be compensated.

Responsibilities:
- Support the Camp Coordinator in overseeing the daily operations of camp, including scheduling, staffing, and camper logistics.
- Serve as a consistent point of contact for Camp Instructors and Counselors, helping to address questions, needs, and challenges as they arise.
- Assist with camper check-in and check-out procedures, attendance tracking, and family communications.
- Help coordinate equipment, space, and material needs in collaboration with the Camp Coordinator and Equipment Manager.
- Monitor the overall camp environment to ensure it remains safe, inclusive, and conducive to creative learning.
- Support the planning and execution of end-of-week Friends and Family Screenings at our theater.
- Communicate regularly with the Camp Coordinator regarding camper needs, accommodations, and any incidents or concerns.
- Help onboard and support Camp Instructors and Counselors, setting a positive example for camp culture and leadership.
- Assist with special programming, field activities, and other camp events as needed.
- Step into instructional or supervisory roles when coverage is needed.
Required Qualifications:
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Experience working with children and young adults in a camp, school, or youth program setting.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience working collaboratively as part of a team toward shared goals.

Ideal Applicants Would Have:
- Mastery of Adobe Creative Cloud (or equivalent).
- Deep technical knowledge of cameras, related equipment, computers, and the technical aspects of a production workflow.
- Experience working in a day camp or full-day education setting.
- Experience working in a managerial role in a small-team setting.
- A passion for creating safe, fun, and educational environments.
- Love of teaching, film, and animation!
Terms: Camp Sessions (six weeks in total):
July 6-17, 2026
July 20-July 31, 2026
August 10-August 21, 2026
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm, 30-minute unpaid lunch break, 32.5 hours/week
Compensation: $22.00-$25.00/hour
Orientation: Orientation will take place at the JBFC Media Arts Lab and over Zoom, is required, and will include training in:
- Equipment and Software
- General Camp Information and Structure
- First Aid/CPR
First Aid/CPR Training is mandatory for all camp staff and will be held in the months leading up to camp. Please note that there will be an online portion of the course that needs to be completed before this date.
Staff will be compensated for this training time.
