Schedule: 3-12 Student Contact Hours Weekly, 7:30 am - 3:30 pm School Days
Pay Range: Starting at $20,700, depending on experience
Position Summary
Veritas School seeks a part-time Rhetoric School Math/Science teacher to instruct students in upper-level mathematics and/or science courses in grades 9-12. The teacher will guide students in developing analytical thinking, disciplined study habits, and clear communication while engaging rigorous academic content within a Christ-centered, classical framework.
Rhetoric School faculty help students synthesize knowledge and articulate truth in wisdom and clarity. The Math/Science teacher will challenge students to pursue excellence in scientific and mathematical inquiry while recognizing God as the author of order, reason, and truth in creation.
This position reports to the Head of School and works collaboratively with faculty to support the academic and spiritual formation of students.
Primary Responsibilities
Teach assigned Rhetoric School mathematics and/or science courses (grades 9–12).
- Prepare lesson plans, labs, assignments, and assessments that promote critical thinking and deep understanding of mathematical and scientific concepts.
- Encourage students to articulate reasoning clearly in both written and verbal forms.
- Foster a classroom environment marked by intellectual curiosity, respectful dialogue, and disciplined study.
- Assess student progress through tests, projects, labs, and written work, providing timely feedback.
- Maintain clear communication with parents regarding student progress and classroom expectations.
- Collaborate with fellow faculty to support curriculum alignment and classical integration across disciplines.
- Integrate a biblical worldview into instruction and model Christ-like character in interactions with students.
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school events as appropriate for a part-time faculty role.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required in mathematics, science, engineering, or a related field (advanced degree preferred).
- Teaching experience at the high school level preferred.
- Ability to teach upper-level mathematics and/or science courses (such as Algebra II, Pre-Calculus, Biology, Chemistry, or Physics).
- Familiarity with or willingness to learn classical Christian educational philosophy.
- Strong classroom management, instructional, and communication skills.
- A personal commitment to the Christian faith and agreement with the mission and statement of faith of Veritas School.
Work Schedule
This is a part-time faculty position, with teaching responsibilities determined based on course offerings and student enrollment. Teaching assignments may include a combination of mathematics and science courses within the Rhetoric
School.
