Travel Consultant

<<Job Description>>

The Travel Consultant position in the Outbound team is responsible for providing professional, accurate, and cost-effective travel arrangements for all clients within company guidelines and standards in order to provide excellent customer service in Japanese and English at the Ala Moana branch.

This position is responsible for managing ticket sales and package tours to local communities providing high quality customer service and assisting Management as necessary. Reporting to Outbound team supervisors, have their back and lead the team.

<<Essential Duties>>

1. Working with potential clients to plan and book travel arrangements, including air, hotels, tours, cruises, and ground transportation.

2. Respond promptly to client inquiries via phone, email, or in person.

3. Create customized travel itineraries and packages for individual clients or groups.

4. Offer expert advice and recommendations to clients to enhance their travel experience.

5. Research locations, hotels, flights, and other travel-related products for clients.

6. Process JR Pass and Wi-Fi Router rental reservations according to the client's travel plan.

7. Manage changes or cancellations to bookings as requested by clients.

8. Meet or exceed sales targets and performance goals set by management.

9. Work in a busy, active office and can stay on task despite distractions.

10. Actively learn and increase the knowledge of suppliers and destinations.

11. Fully informed and stay alert of all airline rules and regulations, tariffs, and other industry requirements, and accurately apply such information upon making travel arrangements.

12. Maintain a high level of competency in operating the CRS.

13. Keep immediate supervisor promptly and fully informed of all problems or unusual matters of significance and take prompt corrective action where necessary or suggest alternative courses of action.

14. Maintain a favorable working relationship with all other company employees to foster and promote a cooperative and harmonious working climate conducive to maximum employee morale, productivity, and efficiency/effectiveness.

15. Maintain confidential records of clients.

16. Other duties the company assigns.

<<Qualification>>

  • Associate's degree (or other 2-year degree)
  • 2-4 years of hospitality industry experience
  • A Bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • One year of Customer service experience.
  • Japanese English bilingual (Korean language is a plus)
  • Able to lift up to 30 lb
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication skills with both colleagues and customers.
  • Comfortable in person or on the phone with clients and suppliers
  • Excellent computer skills - most of the work day will be at a desk in front of the computer
  • Very detailed orientated - works carefully to avoid mistakes
  • Must be able to problem solve to fix issues
  • No OPT internship/J-1 visa status are accepted.

<<Work Hours>>

  • 10:00 - 19:00 Daily.
  • Work for five days a week including weekends and holidays.
  • Closed for Thanksgiving Day and Christmas (Ala Moana Center will be closed on both Holidays).
  • 1-hour lunch break.
