About Bridger Ski Foundation
Bridger Ski Foundation (BSF) is a nonprofit community ski organization based in Bozeman, Montana. We provide and fund educational and competitive programs for all ages, year round, in Nordic, Alpine, Freeskiing, Freestyle, Freeride, Skimo, and Snowboarding. BSF also grooms an incredible network of free community Nordic ski trails for the public in Bozeman. With roots dating back to 1936, BSF has a long, rich history of keeping skiing a grassroots, volunteer-based activity for local families.

Bridger Ski Foundation (BSF) is looking for an exceptional coach to lead our Freeski (park) program into the 2026–2027 season. If you're passionate about developing athletes from the inside out — and believe sport is one of the best classrooms life has to offer — we want to hear from you.
The Freeski Head Coach is responsible for coordinating and overseeing the Freeski (Park) program activities of the Bridger Ski Foundation in Bozeman, MT. The Freeski Head Coach reports directly to and works closely with the Freestyle Program Director and BSF Executive Director and collaborates regularly with the BSF Board of Directors, other Program Directors, Freeski coaching staff, Freestyle committee, office staff, and the general BSF community.
This is a full-time, seasonal head coach position at its core — but for the right candidate, a year-round contract can be on the table from day one. If you bring the skills, availability, and appetite to take on more — whether that's summer on-snow camps and dryland programming, supporting administration, contributing to marketing, or driving fundraising efforts — we will work to build a contract and benefits that reflect that. The full shape of the role depends on you.
Ideal start date: September 1
Head Coach Duties:
1. Develop and maintain organizational structure of BSF Freeski programs.
2. With coaching staff, develop and implement short- and long-term athlete development plans and progression, to include dry-land, programs and schedules for all teams; development of summer, Thanksgiving and Christmas camps; regular season training; and competition schedules. Oversee skill development progression for each team.
3. Coaching: Freeski Head Coach will coach athletes on the hill and in dryland training, and at competitions.
4. Develop, prepare, and be accountable to the annual budget for the Freeski program.
5. Develop and implement short- and long-term strategic plans, to include 1, 3, 5 year plans/goals. Review strategic plan with executive director and board annually. Communicate plans to parents, athletes, and coaching staff.
6. Develop and maintain facilities, equipment, automobiles, venues, supplies, and transportation necessary for training and race events.
7. Work with Freestyle Committee and BSF Development office to procure and cultivate sponsors and donors for Freeski programs.
8. Implement U.S. Ski & Snowboard Coaching Certification programs. Level 100 and 200 available. On-snow clinics required for each level. Coaches Academy required.
9. Organize and manage the procurement of ski equipment and team uniforms for athletes.
10. Participate in the registration systems of BSF Freeski ski program participants, working with the office to update program guides, website, and handbooks.
11. Communicate effectively with parents and athletes in all programs.
12. Work with marketing director to coordinate marketing activities for BSF Freeski ski programs.
13. Co-coordinate and manage BSF Freeski events: competitions, camps, other training events.
14. Co-coordinate and cultivate race officials and volunteers for BSF competitions.
15. Develop and maintain a good working relationship with Bridger Bowl & Big Sky operations. Prompt and timely communication to management of needs for and changes to training/competition schedule and other mountain operation details.
16. Follow and enforce all Bridger Bowl & Big Sky directives among athletes and Freeski staff.
17. Gather and publish via email and or website results, training schedules, competition schedules, travel info and general info on BSF Freeski team. Ensure all content on Freeski web pages and emails is up to date.
18. Contribute to BSF newsletters, annual reports, social media, and other publications as requested.
19. Participating in all multi-discipline BSF events and BSF fundraisers Freeski PD must attend BSF fundraising events, social events, and other functions when requested, and interface with sponsors, donors, coaches, athletes, parents and media.
20. When requested, attend BSF board meetings.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
● Proven record of leadership.
● Have excellent communication both in person and in writing, including interpersonal and relationship-building skills to effectively work with a variety of people and personalities.
● Proven ability to lead multiple long and short-term projects simultaneously, meeting all related deadlines; plan, prioritize, coordinate, and manage own work; work unsupervised and make decisions and solve problems independently, effectively and creatively.
● Present, inform and motivate individuals and groups about BSF’s mission to recruit and retain athletes and coaches.
● Proven experience coaching in Freeski discipline
● Must be insurable to drive van fleet
