SpartanCard Center Summer Office Assistant

PLEASE NOTE: This opening is available specifically during the months of May, June, July, and early August. You must be available during business hours and occasionally after 5 PM during these months to apply.

As an office assistant you will be responsible for greeting customers and providing them with the answers or services that they require. This will include (but is not limited to):

  • Producing SpartanCards
  • Explaining the functions of the SpartanCard
  • Adding stored value to SpartanCards
  • Answering the phone/email
  • Handling a Point-of-Sale register
  • Assisting customers and employees in other sections of the UNCG Business Center (including Postal Operations)
  • Operations during SOAR sessions
  • Sending/Receiving Faxes

We are seeking an energetic student who would enjoy working in a highly visible campus department as we welcome new Spartans and their families during SOAR. This student should be interested in learning essential job skills that will prepare the student for challenges today as well as post-graduation.

Student’s Responsibilities:

Customer Service – This is our top priority. It is the employee’s duty to provide friendly, accurate service to anyone and everyone who enters the Business Center. If the customer has a problem with which you cannot help, you must direct them to the appropriate office or person. If we can provide service or information to the customer, then the employee will do so efficiently and thoroughly. Remember, if in doubt, ask a supervisor.

Scheduled Hours – If you know that you will not be able to work a scheduled shift, you should inform the SpartanCard Center as soon as possible. This will assist in filling the shift.

Work Environment – Please remember it is very important that the customers and other employees of the Business Center feel comfortable while in our office. Refrain from using strong language or offering political or religious opinions. Use your best judgment when determining how to approach a customer or other staff member. Remember, if in doubt, ask a supervisor.

SpartanCard Center’s Responsibilities:

Training – As your employer, the SpartanCard Center is responsible for training and providing you with the knowledge, skills, and equipment necessary to successfully complete your job.

Feedback – To help you, as well as the office, the SpartanCard Center will provide you with feedback on your job performance. If you do not receive feedback or would like to receive further feedback, please ask your supervisor.

Scheduled Hours – The SpartanCard Center will set up a work schedule with you based on the needs of the office. Normal office hours are Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, though there may be a few shifts needed that run after 5 PM. This will not be common, and you will not be alone.
