Title: RESEARCH FELLOW
Employee Type: Fellows
Department: Center of excellence-Neuroscie
Campus Location: NEUROSCIENCE CENTER
Job Summary/Basic Functions
The Neuroscience Center of Excellence at LSU Health Sciences Center in New Orleans is accepting applications for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow! We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Fellow to support and conduct research on a project entitled Elovanoids Target Synaptic Protection After Experimental Traumatic Brain Injury (Concussions). Working closely with the Principal Investigator and research team, the postdoctoral fellow will actively participate in preparing Institutional Review Board (IRB) materials, conducting data collection and analysis, and contributing to manuscript development and dissemination of research findings.
The successful candidate will investigate the effects of novel lipid mediators (LM) on synaptosomal mitochondrial function by assessing respiration, bioenergetics, and mitochondrial fission/fusion dynamics, as well as additional molecular targets. The fellow will define how LM modulate cell-specific transcriptional landscapes in astrocytes, microglia, and diverse neuronal populations by identifying gene expression networks and determining cell phenotypes. Additional responsibilities include characterizing the integrated neuroinflammatory signaling response associated with brain protection, behavior, white matter integrity, axonal and neuronal injury, and chronic inflammation following traumatic brain injury.
