Classical Elementary Education Teacher
Liberty Academy teachers will be highly qualified, intelligent, and dedicated individuals who demonstrate integrity, humility, and a passion for the school’s mission and vision. They will teach a classical curriculum and employ classical pedagogy in the classroom. They will be caring toward all other members of the school community starting with the students in their classroom. Their character will exemplify the virtues of the Academy and foster an environment of joy and love of learning.
Liberty Academy teachers will guide students by:
a) Creating an atmosphere that prizes learning for its own sake
b) Encouraging students to persevere in their studies and to cultivate the skills, motives, and knowledge needed to flourish as human beings and sustain personal growth academically and morally
c) Establishing good rapport with the students and their parents
d) Building a community characterized by civility and respect
Role and Responsibilities:
* We will have the same expectations of all teaching staff whether they are certified or non-certified.
a) Understand and embrace the philosophy and methods of classical education.
b) Skillfully apply the principles of classical education to his/her teaching.
c) Cover the prescribed classical curriculum and sequence.
d) Demonstrate loyalty to the school and its mission.
e) Develop the intellect of each student to the utmost of his/her ability.
f) Develop the personal character of every student.
g) Cooperate in the development and implementation of the school program of instruction.
h) Plan and implement a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students and complies with New Hampshire Department of Education standards and Liberty Academy’s goals and objectives.
i) Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals.
j) Establish clear objectives for all lessons, assignments, units, and projects in harmony with curriculum goals and communicate the objectives to students.
k) Employ instructional methods and materials that are most appropriate for meeting curriculum/program objectives in student instruction.
l) Meet and instruct assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
