Summer Camp Woodshop Teacher

University School is currently seeking a Woodshop Teacher for our six-week all-boys day camp. As we celebrate our 100th year, we are looking for an individual to join a culture centered on sportsmanship, a love for the outdoors, and our grounding principles of Responsibility, Loyalty, and Consideration.

Position Overview:

- Hours: 9:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday

  • We ask you to attend an orientation on June 6th from 9:00a.m. -12:00p.m.
  • Camp begins June 8 daily through July 17th. (Camp is closed June 19. & July 3 for National Holidays)

- Responsibilities: Supervise and teach boys ages 5–12 basic carpentry skills, including nailing, sawing, drilling, and sanding. You will manage six classes per day (one per age group), oversee general shop maintenance, and ensure all safety procedures are followed.

- Student Projects: You will guide students in completing a summer-long project to demonstrate their abilities.

 - Support: You will be paired with an adult assistant experienced in classroom management and basic shop skills.

 

Qualifications:

 

  - Professional experience in carpentry or contracting.

  - Relevant training in shop maintenance and safety.

  - Experience teaching or supervising children is preferred.
