Engineering Intern

The Engineering Intern position will allow the individual to learn general engineering practices as well as acquire specific discipline skills necessary to function effectively in an engineering organization. Work with supporting one or more experienced engineers in performance of assignments that support larger projects as well as experience the day-to-day workings of engineering. May perform and/or participate in additional activities/events which help develop them such as a “capstone project” that is assigned and worked on throughout the course of the internship with a final report/presentation (incorporating academic knowledge in real word environment).

PRIMARY DUTIES:

 Having detailed direction, supervisor accessibility, and regularly scheduled performance feedback:

  • Develop and conduct a variety of experiments to improve current processes and develop new processes or products.
  • Formulate corrective action reports based on testing and research. Recommend design and/or process changes and implement design or process changes as approved.
  • Research new processes, operations, and manufacturing equipment.
  • Set-up and test new equipment and process as deemed appropriate.
  • Prepare memos, reports, and other engineering related documentation.
  • Use computer and necessary software to write reports. Develop spreadsheet, charts table, graphs to support reports written.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and other engineering related documentation including charts and formulas (application of, as appropriate, MS Word – Excel – Outlook – AutoCAD – etc.)
  • Monitor and record problems with process and mechanical equipment and recommend corrective action.
  • Perform any other duties related in nature which may be assigned.

EDUCATION AND ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in engineering or engineering technology with a minimum of one year engineering credits within the desired discipline
  • Demonstrated Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Knowledge of Microsoft AX operating system preferred
