Community Events Intern

The City of Aurora Parks & Recreation Department is seeking a Community Events Intern to support a variety of community events for the summer (June-August). This is a hands-on opportunity to gain real-world experience in event planning, marketing, and public engagement while helping bring large-scale events to life for the community.

Position Details:

  • Pay: $16/hour
  • Schedule: Approximately 10–20 hours per week
  • Flexible availability is essential, including evenings, weekends, and holidays based on event schedules

What You’ll Do:

  • Assist with planning and executing community events (festivals, concerts, July 4th celebration, and more)
  • Coordinate event logistics including timelines, registration, materials, and setup
  • Communicate with vendors, sponsors, volunteers, and City staff
  • Serve as on-site support during events
  • Assist with post-event follow-up, including thank-you communications and recaps

What We’re Looking For:

  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Friendly, professional, and comfortable working with the public
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and Canva preferred
  • Interest in event planning, recreation, communications, or a related field

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record
