Construction Inspection/Resident Project Representatives
Construction Inspection/Resident Project Representatives work in the field at construction job sites to adhere to project specifications and standards. They work directly with contractors, engineers, clients, and project managers to ensure compliance. Work opportunities are, but not limited to:
- Working with general supervision from the Project Manager or the client
- Maintaining accurate daily record of construction site conditions and activities; significant events, issues or problems, and communications between parties
- Photographing construction progress and cataloging photos for future reference
- Producing required reports on contractor’s progress, quality, schedule, and budget status
- Reviewing contractor pay requests, including stored materials
- Working with the Project Manager to evaluate project schedules and prepare status reports
- Conducting weekly coordination meetings with the contractor; documenting and distributing meeting minutes
- Assisting with RFI and submittal review
- Possessing a fundamental understanding of contracts and familiarity with codes and laws governing construction
- Additional duties may require coordination and supervision of construction materials testing services
Required Qualifications:
- Associates degree in civil engineering related field or equivalent experience
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Valid driver’s license
- Prior experience in the field, observing and documenting daily construction work activities (ideally water/wastewater)
- Prior experience as a lead Resident Project Representative, lead inspector, or construction superintendent
- Strong organization, communication (written and verbal), and time management skills
- Accurately track and enter hours worked on projects daily into a timesheet
Travel Requirements:
Local travel can be anticipated occasionally to meet with clients, local regulators, and contractors, or to collect and verify field information and conditions. Field visits are also routinely required for projects during construction.
