The Student Success & Academic Services department provides programs and resources to Round Rock campus students to support academic and post-graduation goals with a focus on recruitment, persistence, retention and completion. Our department is a welcoming space and typically serves as the first point of contact for campus guests, prospective students, and community partners when they call and visit the Round Rock Campus.

Purpose of the Role (Why this role exists):
To provide exceptional support in recruitment, department representation, and general office duties for the department.
This position could extend to the fall semester with excellent job performance and if you are awarded federal work study.
*This position is not a Graduate Assistantship and will not qualify an international student for an in-state tuition waiver.
Required Qualifications (What we require you bring to the team):
Must be awarded Federal Work Study
Have and maintain a cumulative/term-semester GPA of 2.5 or Higher
Strong interpersonal skills with a friendly and professional demeanor
Excellent written and oral English communication skills are required for 1:1 and group interactions
Ability to manage time and arrive to scheduled shift on-time
Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently
Demonstrate motivation and results-oriented behavior
Ability to address and resolve inquiries with patience and resourcefulness
Approach problem-solving with a proactive "can-do" attitude
Excellent written and oral English communication skills are required
Experience and/or knowledge regarding small office operations and equipment
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
Capability to work in a fast-paced environment with ease
Proven record of being dependable and completing tasks in a timely manner
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior customer service or administrative experience
Familiarity with campus resources, services, and procedures
Willingness to work occasional evenings or weekends for special events
Description (What you will do):
Student Assistants are leaders who assist campus visitors, prospective students, and the Round Rock Campus community during their visit to Student Success and Academic Services at Round Rock. Student assistants represent the department and the Round Rock Campus and will provide program information in the office and outreach events, serve as department ambassadors during NSO and Bobcats Back, and provide general support for services offered through Student Success and Academic Services. Student Assistant roles and responsibilities can be categorized into recruitment, department representation, and general office support duties:
Recruitment / Campus Tour Guides
Student assistants will also play a large role in helping prospective students get familiar with the campus through campus tours. The student assistants will host guests on campus, take them to visit departmental staff, and introduce them to the services, resources and facilities they will have access to as a student at the Round Rock Campus.
Department Ambassadors
Student assistants also serve as representatives during signature campus events like Discover TXST, New Student Orientation, and departmental programs.
General Office Support
Each student assistant will participate in activities to help support the departmental activities to include:
Opening and closing the office
Answering phone calls to the Round Rock Campus main line
Assisting with event setup and tear down
Maintaining office appearance and inventory
Assist with routine checks and maintenance of The Pantry, The Study Zone, The Den and other Student Success spaces at the Round Rock Campus
Assisting with general office duties
Work Schedule (When you are expected work):
Student assistants will work between 10 and 20 hours per week. The department hours are 8am-5 pm, Monday – Friday. Student assistants work hours are between 7:45am and 5:00pm. Some weekends are required.

Training (How we prepare you):
In order to receive adequate training, student assistants will:
Be on-boarded during the first week of employment Attend monthly student staff meetings
Attend semester retreats (Fall and Spring)
Starting Pay Rate:
$10.00 per hour
Payrate Determination:
All student employees begin at the starting pay rate and may increase by .25 after two long semesters (fall and spring) of employment with a positive evaluation from their supervisor using the Student Employee Career Readiness Evaluation Forms.
Evaluation Frequency:
Student assistants are evaluated by their supervisor at the end of each long semester.
