Urban Planner Student Internship: Summer 2026

URBAN PLANNER STUDENT INTERNSHIP: SUMMER 2026

EMH&T is seeking a passionate and talented City & Regional Planning student for a paid Summer 2026 Internship with our Planning & Landscape Architecture team in Columbus, Ohio. 

As part of EMH&T’s Urban Planner team, you will assist with design and support public and private sector projects focused on community planning, comprehensive plans, mobility/transportation planning, corridor studies, and recreation planning. You’ll be immersed in real-world projects, collaboration with experienced professionals, and contributing to meaningful work that impacts communities. Your summer experience will include mentorship with planning studies, thoroughfare planning, urban design conceptual planning, and development applications and reviews.

An internship with EMH&T will allow you to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic and collaborative environment where mentorship is fostered. You will learn from some of the best Engineers, Scientists, Planners and Surveyors who will mentor you in the planning, design, execution phases of projects, gaining valuable insights into the practical applications of civil engineering principles.

A positive attitude, adaptability, and communication skills are essential, along with a genuine interest in making a meaningful impact.

Qualifications

Current college student pursuing a bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in City and Regional Planning, or related major.

Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without time limitations.
