Irvine, CA | Internship

About Archwest Capital

Archwest Capital is a private lending firm focused on delivering innovative financing solutions to real estate investors and developers.

Position Overview

Archwest Capital is looking for a Software Engineering & AI Intern to join our technology team and contribute to the design, development, and integration of software tools and artificial intelligence solutions. This is a hands-on engineering role where you will build real products, work with modern AI frameworks, and help shape how Archwest leverages technology to drive smarter lending operations.

Responsibilities

· Design, build, and iterate on internal software tools and applications that support lending operations, underwriting, and portfolio management

· Develop and integrate AI and large language model (LLM) features into existing workflows, including document processing, data extraction, and intelligent reporting

· Build and maintain automation pipelines to streamline repetitive processes using Python, APIs, and workflow orchestration tools

· Prototype and evaluate AI/ML models and tooling to improve decision-making in credit analysis and deal management

· Collaborate with business stakeholders to translate operational needs into well-defined technical requirements and software solutions

· Write clean, maintainable code and contribute to documentation and engineering best practices

Qualifications

· Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, or a related technical field

· Proficiency in Python or another modern programming language; experience with web frameworks (e.g., FastAPI, Flask, or React) is a plus

· Familiarity with AI/ML concepts and tools, such as LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.), prompt engineering, RAG pipelines, or machine learning libraries

· Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset with the ability to work independently and take initiative

· Experience with version control (Git), REST APIs, or SQL databases is a plus; curiosity about applying AI in financial services is a strong differentiator

What You'll Gain

· Real-world software engineering experience shipping code that is used by the business — not just side projects

· Hands-on exposure to applied AI and LLM integration in a production financial services environment

· Opportunity to see how technology directly drives business outcomes in private lending and real estate finance

· Mentorship from experienced engineers and finance professionals, and a path to a return offer for top performers
