Overview
TILL, Inc. is offering paid summer internships to teens and young adults thanks to a partnership with the Urban Youth Collaborative, an initiative of the Massachusetts Department of Developmental Services (MA DDS). The program's goal is to introduce teens and young adults - ages 18-24 - to the wide range of career paths in human services.
Program Details
- The summer program starts in late May/early June and includes part-time and full-time positions.
- Candidates must be 18-24 years old and be willing to commit to a 10-week summer internship.
- Hourly pay of $21
- No experience is required, but candidates should be interested in exploring the career of human services and embracing our agency’s mission of supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
- Applicants for residential programs and some day services must have a valid driver's license and a reliable form of transportation.
Farmer - Summer Internship
The farm staff is a field labor and educational job. The farming aspects will include preparing the soil for growing, digging, mulching, field transplanting and planting, weeding by hand or with tools, irrigation, trellising, harvesting, washing and packaging produce for sale or donation, greenhouse production, basic tool and equipment cleaning, sanitation and maintenance. The job will also include leading groups of individuals with intellectual and physical disabilities who come to the farm. You will guide them to complete the assigned tasks, while educating them about farming practices.
Responsibilities
- Perform the physical labor of field preparation, planting, cultivating, weeding, mulching, etc.
- Perform general farm upkeep.
- Perform basic tool and equipment maintenance.
- Follow farm safety, food safety, farm sanitation, and emergency procedures. Lead and educate visiting groups about farming practices.
