Substation Engineer I

We serve those entities on an array of projects, offering consultation on technology utilization, design solutions for electrical and mechanical systems, public health systems, and equipment procurement and construction phase services.

Description of Position

This is an entry-level engineering position. Under close supervision, performs substation design engineering functions requiring knowledge and experience in engineering principles. The candidate must have a technical education background to facilitate the execution of assignments requiring engineering expertise in the desired discipline. The position responsibilities shall include, but are not limited to, the preparation of drawings, specifications, and estimates for project assignments. Additionally, guidance should be provided to designers and technicians on assigned projects of simple complexity.

Essential Functions of Position

  • The development of project engineering drawing packages for substations (Grounding, Electrical Plan sections, etc.)
  • Perform specific project design and development tasks, including drawings, calculations, cost estimates, and specifications
  • Ensure that the services exceed the client’s expectation of quality, budget, and schedule.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet the required completion schedule.
  • Work independently based on general instructions, directions, or objectives received from the Project Manager or the Supervisor.
  • Provide direct supervision to designers and technicians.
  • Demonstrate sound technical design/planning, computer, and financial/project management skills.
  • May provide support to business development or pursuit activities.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (Power Systems preferred) or in a related field from an accredited university.
  • Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) preferred.
  • Entry-level experience with an engineering educational background.
  • Willingness to travel for site surveys, project scope walks, and meetings
  • 0 - 2 years of experience in an engineering discipline.
