Cincinnati Engineering Intern Summer/Fall 2026
AbbVie Cincinnati Internship
Purpose:
- Provide support to Cincinnati engineering projects in solid oral dose manufacturing and packaging.
- Develop expertise in areas such as project management, equipment design, risk assessment, change control, documentation, validation and qualification, construction management.
- Provide support to operations for troubleshooting and operational excellence programs. Provide maintenance support for 5S program and metrics reporting.
- Actual assignments will vary with the current plant priorities.
- Role will increase in complexity as expertise is developed.
Responsibilities:
- Work under the general direction of supervisor or technical lead on assignments.
- Contribute to cross-functional teams working on engineering projects to refine scope, schedule, budget, and risk mitigation (safety and quality) as projects are planned and executed. Lead teams as expertise is developed.
- Participate in the design and improvement of process equipment and systems for optimal performance.
- Start-up of new and troubleshoot existing facilities/equipment to ensure optimal operation and performance.
- Writing, training, or execution of operations and engineering documents. (Examples: standard operation procedures, validation and qualification plans, master batch records).
- Execute daily safety and QA checklists to maintain GMP conditions during construction projects
- 5S projects and equipment metrics reporting for maintenance group
Qualifications:
- Enrolled in good standing in an accredited college engineering program pursuing a Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial, or similar engineering bachelor’s or master’s degree.
- Technical writing proficiency and experience with computer software (Examples: word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, scheduling)
- Ability to work on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of identifiable factors. Demonstrates judgement within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate course of action.
- Works independently and confidently in a collaborative, goal-driven environment.
- Interacts well with diverse groups and maintains a strong working relationship with internal and external collaborators.
- Listens to understand others’ points of view and articulates concisely and respectively one’s own perspective orally, in writing, and in presentations.
- Possess interpersonal skills to negotiate and reconcile differences.
