Summer Camp Counselor, Camp Howard
A Cabin Counselor is the front-line, primary caretaker of campers in their charge, responsible for a group of 8-11 campers to which they are assigned. They are responsible for facilitating the daily, on-time cabin routine, creating fun activities, seeing that safety procedures and policies are followed, and implementing activity programs as communicated at all times.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 17 years of age.
- Attend staff training June 24 – June 27. Staff will be resident at camp Sunday 12noon through Friday 5pm and will have full Saturdays, also Sunday mornings off unless they are working a Family Camp weekend.
- Mature, positive Christian role model.
- Prior experience in a camp environment and/or working with youth is preferred.
- Must be flexible, dependable, punctual, emotionally mature, professional, and have strong organizational skills.
- Display a positive and enthusiastic attitude for the position.
- Ability to take direction from Unit Director and Camp Director.
- Team player and willing to work hard.
- Good physical health; must be able to lift 35 lbs.
- Certified in First Aid/CPR/AED (training provided). Possess an Oregon Food Handler’s card as needed.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Maintain effective, honest communication with Camp Leadership.
- Provide a fun and safe environment for all campers and serve as positive role model.
- Deliver campers to scheduled program areas and all meals on time.
- Always keep campers within sight and sound.
- Participate in all activities as needed (songs, daily/evening activities, etc.).
- Lead programs and/or classes for campers as needed.
- Work within a team of co-workers and Unit Directors to ensure safety of all campers.
