Internal Audit Intern 

Summer Internship Position, San Francisco, California

 

Description

Assist in the completion of assigned audit engagements in the areas of operations, finance, and compliance. Through analysis of regulatory requirements, policies and procedures, accounting standards, professional guidelines, contribute in the development of risk-based work plans to complete audit and control objectives. Identifies potential issues and process efficiencies through analysis of documentation and control testing, and communicates these points to the Internal Audit team to ensure any potential concerns are addressed in a timely and effective manner.  Assist with maintenance of IA’s system of record and perform ad-hoc projects.

Responsibilities 

  • Develop knowledge of the Internal Auditor’s role in relation to the Bank
  • Assist in the completion of assigned audit engagements 
  • Understand risk-based audit programs to achieve audit objectives for assigned audit projects
  • Complete audit testing, inquiry, observation and other analysis required to meet objectives of assigned audit projects
  • Communicate progress and results of audit throughout the audit engagement to members of the Internal Audit team
  • Proactively and professionally interact with clients to document and communicate relevant information
  • Monitor implementation of outstanding audit recommendations and validate their implementation
  • Ensure adherence to all applicable departmental and professional standards 
  • Document activities in work papers evidencing all audit work performed
  • Aid in the completion of additional projects as assigned including maintenance of GRC data

Requirements

  • Upper-class undergraduate or graduate student studying finance, accounting, or related major
  • GPA of 3.5+ preferred
  • Base understanding of internal controls and risk
  • Ability to adapt to a changing environment, meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks
  • Strong analytical ability and the ability to transform an analysis into communicable results
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and time management skills with a focus on organization and attention to detail
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint
