Outreach & Marketing Intern (SBGI Program)
About the Role
The AEMC – Small Business Growth Initiative (SBGI) is seeking one Outreach & Marketing Intern to support digital marketing, outreach, and engagement efforts across Region 3 (Will, Grundy, Kankakee, and Kendall Counties).
SBGI is a grant-funded program supported by the State Small Business Credit Initiative (SSBCI), providing no-cost support to help small businesses access funding, strengthen operations, and grow sustainably. The program is led by Program Director Kristal Anderson, a DePaul University alumna (Class of 2000).
This is a paid, part-time internship offering hands-on experience in marketing, outreach, and small business development in collaboration with a CPA firm.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and schedule content across LinkedIn, Facebook, and Google Business
- Support digital marketing campaigns (30–60 day campaign cycles)
- Develop marketing materials using Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop)
- Assist with email marketing campaigns, newsletters, and outreach messaging
- Utilize HubSpot for content scheduling, digital campaigns, Google Ads, and email marketing
- Support outreach to Chambers of Commerce, nonprofits, and community partners
- Assist with promotion of workshops, webinars, and business events
Required Qualifications
- Junior or Senior pursuing a Bachelor’s degree (Marketing, Communications, Business, or related field)
- Intermediate to advanced experience with Adobe Creative Suite (required)
- Familiarity with HubSpot (or willingness to learn within 1–2 days)
- Strong understanding of digital marketing and business-level social media posting
- Strong communication, organization, and time management skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with email marketing and digital campaigns
- Interest in small business or economic development
- Spanish-speaking ability is a plus (not required)

Compensation & Details
- $20/hour (paid internship)
- 10–20 hours per week
- Hybrid / Remote (occasional in-person events or workshops may be required)
- Duration: Up to 14 months (ending on or before May 31, 2027)
