Ron Brown College Preparatory High School is looking for a highly motivated and skilled Computer Science teacher to join our team at District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS) for the 2025-26 school year. We seek individuals who are passionate about transforming the DC school system and making a significant difference in the lives of our public school students, parents, and the greater DC community.

The Teacher (10-month) will report to the Principal.

Ideal General Educator Profile:

We are seeking an educator who is:

  • Licensed to teach Computer Science (Grades 9–12)
  • Experienced in teaching introductory and advanced CS courses (1–2+ years preferred)
  • Student-centered and results-driven, with a strong focus on achievement and outcomes
  • Skilled in data-driven instruction and continuous progress monitoring
  • Collaborative and team-oriented, contributing to PLCs and cross-curricular planning
  • Flexible and innovative, with the ability to adapt instruction to diverse learners
  • Committed to building a strong sense of belonging and academic identity for students

Key Past Experiences (in and outside of education):

Candidates should demonstrate experience in:

  • Programming Instruction
  • Languages: Scratch, Python (additional languages are a plus)
  • Project-Based & Experiential Learning
  • Designing real-world, student-centered learning experiences
  • Facilitating collaborative, hands-on projects
  • Technology Integration
  • Use of platforms such as Canvas, AP Classroom, or similar tools
  • Robotics (Preferred but Not Required)
  • Exposure to robotics kits, automation, or physical computing
  • AP-Level Instruction (Strongly Preferred)
  • Familiarity with college board expectations and AP-style rigor

Qualifications                                                                                                                          

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Previous exposure to or experience in the education sector a plus.
  • Possesses or is eligible for a valid District of Columbia Teaching License issued by the Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE).
  • Strong instructional skills and classroom management.
  • Enthusiasm for and demonstrated mastery of subject matter.
  • Unrelenting commitment to students, self, and school’s constant learning and development.
  • Ability to self-reflect on teaching practices and be responsive to feedback.
