ACADEMIC COACHING COORDINATOR - UNLV CAEO, COLLEGE PROGRAMS

 

Job description


This is a temporary, part-time (38 hours/week) position with benefits. The incumbent will have an office on the main UNLV campus at 4505 S Maryland Parkway, SSC A 301.

General Description


The Academic Coaching Coordinator works under the general direction of the Director for College Programs supporting college-level programs housed at the UNLV Center for Academic Enrichment and Outreach (CAEO). This position manages a caseload of UNLV undergraduate students, who are CAEO program participants, and provides them with various academic support services mandated by the Student Support Services and AANAPISI projects. The outreach and services are typically provided during business hours (Monday thru Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm) and some Saturdays (events only).

Job Functions
 

  • Outreach to prospective and current participants
  • Working with an assigned caseload of UNLV undergraduate students, in person and virtually
  • Providing the following services: academic advising and counseling, graduate school counseling, career counseling, financial literacy education, tutoring services, workshops, referrals to campus resources to avoid duplication of services, and assistance with finding scholarships/completing financial aid applications
  • Documenting services and maintaining federally-mandated participant records
  • Learning and adhering to project guidelines and meeting assigned objectives
  • Assisting with special projects

*Training and computer equipment will be provided.

Qualifications

Education: Minimum--Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited university; Preferred--Major in Education or related field
 
Requirements: Ability to pass a background check, ability to drive and maintain a valid driver's license, excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; excellent interpersonal skills and attention to detail; advanced computer skills (Google Docs, Canvas, MS Word, Excel, Power Point, and Adobe Suite). Two years of experience in a comparable position is also required.
 
Preferred: Advising and counseling undergraduate students, working with under-resourced and underserved students, experience in/working knowledge of higher education institutions, and experience with remote services and content delivery through Canvas and Google platforms.
