Student Recruitment and Outreach Assistant

The Susquehanna Valley Community Education Project (SVCEP) is seeking a CORE Susquehanna AmeriCorps Member to serve as a Student Recruitment and Outreach Assistant for a 450-hour summer term beginning May 18th.

About the Role

The Student Recruitment & Outreach Assistant will support SVCEP’s organizational capacity by assisting with outreach, community engagement, and student recruitment efforts. This position focuses on expanding awareness and access to workforce training opportunities through community-based outreach, event engagement, and participant follow-up systems.

Site Location

Service Term

May 18th, 2026 – August 15th 2026

Description of Duties

  • Assist staff with outreach efforts to promote SVCEP programs 
  • Support recruitment initiatives through community engagement and information sharing 
  • Assist in maintaining outreach tracking systems and contact logs 
  • Regularly support outreach events, including fairs, festivals, and community events (many held on Saturdays) 
  • Assist with event setup and teardown, transport and organization of outreach materials, tabling, participant engagement, and information sharing 
  • Represent SVCEP in a professional, non-partisan manner
  • Assist staff in organizing and tracking follow-up communication with prospective students 
  • Support systems for responding to general inquiries (e.g., organizing messages, preparing responses, routing inquiries to staff) 
  • Assist with distributing outreach materials 
  • Support social media, newsletters, and website updates related to recruitment 
  • Assist with organizing and maintaining welcoming, participant-facing environments that support recruitment and engagement (e.g., organizing materials, preparing outreach displays, enhancing visibility of program information) 
  • Collect and report data on participants and program outcomes
  • Participate in CORE Susquehanna AmeriCorps orientation, convenings, and trainings

Schedule

Approximately 37.5 hours per week to reach the required 450 service hours during the summer term. Hours may vary week to week and may include occasional evenings or weekends for outreach events.

Site Specific Qualifications

  • Interest in education, workforce development, community engagement, or nonprofit work
  • Ability to communicate professionally with diverse audiences
  • Comfort representing an organization at public events

Preferred

  • Experience with outreach, recruitment, marketing, or community engagement. 
  • Familiarity with social media or basic digital communications

CORE Susquehanna AmeriCorps Qualifications

  • Driver’s License and reliable transportation
  • High School Diploma
  • FBI, Sex Offenders, State Criminal Background Check (at organizations expense if not already obtained)
  • Commitment to community service and AmeriCorps mission
  • Ability to serve as part of a diverse team
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be punctual, reliable, and able to receive constructive feedback professionally
  • Demonstrates appropriate use of personal and professional boundaries
