Marketing & Development Intern

KCME and Jazz 93.5 Intern Position

Are you an organized, tech-savvy emerging professional with a passion for community radio? Classical KCME and Jazz 93.5, two local non-profit stations, are seeking a dedicated Intern to support our mission. In this role, you’ll bring strong communication and design skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, and a keen eye for detail. 

We’re looking for a self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment, balancing independent work with teamwork. Reporting to the Development & Marketing team, apply today for this part-time, in-office position if you're eager to grow and make an impact! Hours are flexible around your class schedule within the Monday–Friday, 9:00 a.m. –5:00 p.m. timeframe. 

This summer internship (May-August 2026) has the ability to extend into the school year based on the intern’s performance.

Responsible to the Development and Marketing Director for the following:

Development 

  • Update and print programming schedule cards
  • Add new volunteers to the volunteer spreadsheet
  • Track premiums (thank-you gifts) and other station donations of goods
  • Download and organize content as you finalize it and store it in the correct place within our server
  • Attend staff meetings, as schedule allows
  • Make thank you calls to new donors
  • Call Sustainers of the month and coordinate gift

Marketing  

  • Work with the Development & Marketing team to develop a social calendar for each month
  • Content creation for social media uses, including infographics, graphics, collages, reels
  • Assist with assembling newsletter content for our bimonthly newsletters.
  • Manage day-to-day social media (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn)
    • Engaging with followers: liking comments and responding if appropriate, responding to direct messages and/or tags as necessary, 
    • Engaging with the feed by scrolling and liking posts that are relevant to the station. And following other local organizations to benefit the stations. 
    • Scheduling weekly posts within Facebook business suite.
  • Make regular updates to our websites using Wordpress software.
    • Updating playlists on a recurring basis with files from most recent interviews
      • Performance Spotlight Interviews - Daily
      • Youth Spotlight Interviews – Once a month
      • Update Events Page links – Bi-Monthly 
      • Make updates to our programming grids as needed – Roughly every quarter
      • Update or create sponsor listing in directory as needed by sales team.
      • Other miscellaneous updates as needed

On-Air Fundraising

Assist with content creation for fundraising drives.

  • Lightboxes for websites
  • Food donation thank you stories or posts
  • In studio/behind the scenes photos
  • Posting Goal ($) updates to social media
  • Solicit lunch donations for staff during fundraising drives
  • Solicit businesses for donations for fundraising drive donor give away

Other

  • Answer station phone and direct calls as appropriate
  • Answer station front door, greet visitors and manage deliveries
  • Other miscellaneous administrative assistance tasks
  • Additional duties as assigned by Development and Marketing Director and/or Development and Marketing Coordinator.

 

Application Knowledge: WordPress, Canva, Microsoft Office 365 Applications, Facebook Business Suite, Social Media Platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn.

Skills Required: Strong computer skills, background in design, marketing, and/or communication preferred. Experience with public radio is a plus. Self-directed, collaborative, clear and direct communication- both internal and external, team- oriented.

Benefits: $12 per hour, part-time, 17 hours per week
