Title: IT Intern

Location: Hagerstown, MD

Type: Temporary (12 weeks), Full-Time (37.5 hours per week), Paid

 

Job Summary:

The IT Intern works with the Systems Administrator to advance key initiatives with the organizations. They work collaboratively with all departments to assess technical needs and ensure solutions that support business objectives. The IT Intern performs the essential functions of the position noted below, while meeting the quality and service standards developed by the agency.


 

Essential Functions:

  • Assist the Systems Administrator with the creation and implementation of a new PC deployment plan including
  • Analyzation of the current process
  • Partnering with the Managed Service Provider (MSP) to schedule and deploy new PC set ups
  • Trouble shoot hardware and software issues as part of the deployment
  • Review existing Blue Ridge security practices and based on a gap analysis, make recommendations for gap closure
  • Review existing agency policies and compare against industry standards to identify policy improvements and additional policies needed 
  • Communicate recommendations to Systems Administrator and Senior Leadership team.
  • Use existing reports to identify security vulnerabilities and remediate

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: 

  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing, to receive and interpret complex information, and respond appropriately.
  • Ability to understand written and oral communication and interpret abstract information.
  • Knowledge of insurance products preferred.

 

Education and Experience:

  • At least one year of work towards a Bachelor’s degree.
  • Must be currently enrolled in a degree program with a majoring in Business, Systems or other related field
  • Past experience in IT related work highly preferred.
