Accounts Payable Assistant

If so, here is your sign. Office of Administration, Division of Accounting (OA-DOA) seeks a qualified professional for the Staff Services (OA-Accounts Payable) Unit.

We are seeking a proactive team player who is able to:

  • Apply critical thinking related to purchasing and accounts payable duties.  
  • Provide outstanding customer service to the multiple OA division contacts we serve each day.

The salary indicated represents a base pay rate.  If the individual selected or the position is eligible for a pay differential (e.g., shift, security, or years of service), it will be added to the total compensation in your paycheck.  A pay differential does not raise your base pay

  • Process OA procurement documents and payments for compliance with Statues, CSR, policies and appropriation authority prior to processing in SAM II Financial and MissouriBUYS.
  • Process budget documents in SAM II Financial for allotments, appropriation revisions, expense budgets, withholdings, and flexibility requests.
  • Process OA journal voucher/referencing journal voucher documents, Fixed Asset disposition and/or transfer documents in SAM II Financial.
  • Assist with document filing and retention.
  • Work closely with OA division contacts to ensure payments are processed timely and accurately, while providing superior customer service and support.
  • Assist team members and supervisor as needed and assist with other special projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications 

  • Working Knowledge of State Statutes, Code of State Regulations, Statewide and OA Policies relating to accounting.
  • Working Knowledge of SAM II Financial and the Data Warehouse.
  • Working Knowledge of MissouriBUYS.
  • Ability to create reports and spreadsheets in Microsoft Access and Excel
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within the unit and with other OA divisions.
  • Working Knowledge of accounting principles and practices and ability to apply them to varied accounting transactions.
  • Ability to perform detailed work using statistical and financial data.
  • Two or more years of financial experience with a governmental agency or a private sector accounting, finance or brokerage firm. 

OR

  • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum of 15 earned credit hours in Accounting. (Business or governmental accounting experience (above entry level) involving the maintenance or recording of financial data may substitute on a year-for-year basis for deficiencies in the required college education.
