Lead Preschool Teacher
Position Summary
The Lead Preschool Teacher is responsible for creating and maintaining a safe, nurturing, and engaging classroom environment for young children. This role includes planning and implementing developmentally appropriate, play-based curriculum that supports children’s cognitive, social-emotional, physical, and spiritual growth. The Lead Teacher serves as a role model for both children and staff, ensuring high-quality instruction and classroom management.
Key Responsibilities
Curriculum & Instruction
- Plan and implement age-appropriate lesson plans aligned with state early learning standards
- Incorporate hands-on, play-based learning experiences
- Foster language development, early literacy, and foundational math skills
- Integrate faith-based principles and character development (if applicable)
Classroom Management
- Maintain a structured, positive, and engaging classroom environment
- Establish consistent routines and clear expectations
- Use positive guidance techniques to support behavior
Child Development & Assessment
- Observe, assess, and document children’s progress
- Adapt instruction to meet diverse learning needs
- Identify and communicate developmental concerns when appropriate
Family Communication
- Build strong relationships with families
- Provide daily updates and regular progress reports
- Conduct parent-teacher conferences
Health & Safety
- Ensure compliance with all licensing and safety regulations
- Maintain a clean, organized classroom
- Follow proper procedures for meals, hygiene, and supervision
Leadership & Team Collaboration
- Supervise and support assistant teachers
- Model professionalism and best practices
- Collaborate with staff to support center goals and initiatives
