Land Survey Assistant
Nielsen Madsen + Barber, a long-established civil engineering and land surveying firm located in southeastern Wisconsin, has an immediate opening for an experienced land survey assistant.
The candidate selected for this position must have a high school diploma (or equivalent) and a minimum of six (6) months of relevant land surveying (field work or educational) experience. The candidate will have the opportunity to work with experienced field crews on a wide variety of survey related projects.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist survey crew chief with various types of survey projects.
- Collect field data using total stations, GPS and data collectors.
- Collect field data for topographic, boundary, ALTA/NSPS and as-built surveys.
- Locate monuments in the field based on available records.
- Set property irons for Plats of Survey, Certified Survey Maps and Subdivisions.
- Prepare field notes and sketches for field work.
- Perform construction layout for all types of construction.
- Set and verify site benchmarks and control points.
Qualifications:
- Be enrolled in or have completed an associate’s degree in land surveying or civil engineering technology.
- Previous experience with assisting in the performance of boundary surveys, topographic surveys and construction staking and layout.
- Experience with GPS and robotic total station operations.
- Ability to work with a team.
- Self-motivated and eager to learn surveying principles.
- Excellent written, verbal, mathematical and organizational skills.
- Ability to work outside in varying weather conditions.
- Valid Driver’s License.

The wage being offered is commensurate with experience ($20 - $25/ hr).
