Summary:

 

The purpose of the Cadet Room Instructor program is to provide social maturation services for Boys & Girls Club members 7-9 years old.  This is accomplished through the implementation of a weekly program plan that includes daily and group projects, motivational/participatory programs, group clubs and skills classes.  The Cadet Room instructor program instills creativity within youngsters and helps them to acquire and develop skills. Mentoring, both individually and in groups, occurs daily in the Cadet room..

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

Program Related – In order to provide a quality experience for Boys & Girls Club members, the Cadet Instructor conducts tournaments or contests daily.

  • To conduct table games and improvised games daily.
  • Low-organized “for fun” contests daily.
  • File folder activity twice weekly.
  • Simple crafts project weekly.
  • Group goal-setting club meeting weekly.
  • Group goal-setters reward activity weekly.
  • Second group club which meets weekly.
  • Motivational contest daily, as provided in the Program Prescription.
  • Activity sheets utilized daily.
  • Supervised free play.

 

The above program activities should reflect specific age groups and boy/girl/coed opportunities.

 

Non-Program Related – In addition to program duties, Cadet Room instructors are expected to:

 

  • Maintain attractive up-to-date bulletin boards and displays, including a display of weekly program and member-of-the-month.
  • Secure areas at all times when Cadet room is not open.
  • Maintain inventory of supplies and request additional supplies as needed.
  • Supervise hallways and area adjacent to Cadet room.
  • Clean and secure room at the end of each day.

 

Qualifications and Experience:

 

  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Possess a high school diploma.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Possess a car to drive to and from work.
  • Knowledge of basic first aid practices, procedures, and techniques.
  • Ability to read and write at a level necessary to successfully perform the required duties.
  • Ability to understand and carry out both oral and written instructions in an independent manner.
  • Ability to meet the physical requirements necessary to safely and effectively perform required duties.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with those contacted to perform required duties.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

 

  • Must pass an FBI/BCI background check.
  • Prolonged periods of standing and sitting.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
