Sales and Events Intern

POSITION TITLE: Sales and Events Intern

 

REPORTS TO: Director of Sales and Revenue Generation

 

SUPERVISES: N/A

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY:

To assist the Events department in the sales, planning, and execution of CMA events, including both Consumer and Private events and in doing so, learning about the process of coordinating events and their importance to Non-Profit work. 

 

 ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Learning about the relationship with event clients, 3rd party vendors, and event staff
  • Learning and performing tasks related to the sales and execution of events. 
  • Assisting the events department in communicating with event leads
  • Assisting the events department in planning and coordinating Consumer and Private events 
  • Assisting in the sales of Private Events, including but not limited to communicating with leads, cold calling, and responding promptly to event inquiries 
  • Assisting in data entry in regards to event inquires and new leads 
  • Communicating with Private Events clients to learn about event needs and details, and coordinate accordingly, make recommendations for set up, theme, food accordingly
  • Assist in setting up the room and spaces for events both consumer and private
  • Assisting with receiving and making payments for private events 
  • Assisting in liaison with 3rd party vendors such as entertainers, caterers, etc. 
  • Assisting with the setup and breakdown of Consumer and Private Events

 

 EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • Currently enrolled in an upper level degree program in communications, non-profit management, marketing, sales, event management, or hospitality preferred or other related field. May be up to 1 year post graduation to apply.
    • This internship has a minimum number of hours in order to successfully complete the program
      • 3 month internships 500 hours
      • 4 month internship 650 hours 
      • 5 month internships 800 hours 
      • 6 month internship 950 hours
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Track record of excellent organizational skills and the ability to multi task
  • Ability to work independently while functioning as a member of a team
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office suite of products including: Outlook, Excel, Word is preferred
  • Must have valid driver’s license & reliable transportation

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Ability to work in outdoor environment (heat, rain, etc.) – often 
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time both indoors and outdoors – often
  • Ability to work weekend and evening hours - occasionally
  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. – occasionally
  • Sit or kneel for extended periods of time – occasionally
