STIPEND: $800/semester. This is an ASWC funded position that receives an educational award.

 

Description of WEB
 

The Whitman Events Board (WEB) consists of a team of student leaders who sponsor a variety of arts, cultural, educational and entertainment programs for the Whitman community. The directors work closely together under the supervision of the WEB Chair and the Student Activities Office to coordinate all aspects of these programs and campus events.

WEB’s mission statement is as follows: WEB is a student-driven organization enthusiastically committed to enhancing the student experience and fostering community development. Our mission is to provide and support stimulating and entertaining events while holding student interests in the highest regard.

WEB is funded and supported by the Associated Student of Whitman College (ASWC) and the Student Activities Office in the Reid Campus Center. The Student Activities Office seeks to provide students with learning opportunities outside the classroom. We therefore expect all WEB members to participate in experiences that develop and demonstrate leadership, character, confidence and responsibility. We anticipate that WEB directors will attain a level of competence in each of the following learning areas:

-- Event/Program Management

Minimum Qualifications

--Current full-time Whitman College student, in good academic standing (minimum 2.0 GPA).
--Fine attention to detail, professionalism, dependability, and communication skills.
--Creative and self-motivated.
--Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
 

Additional Details

--4-10 hours per week.
--Late evenings and weekend availability required.
 

--Commitment to volunteering at events run by other directors.

--This position is compensated via a stipend of $800/semester.

  • Marketing Director 
  • Cosponsorship Director 
  • Budget Manager 
  • Music and Entertainment co-directors (2)
  • Creative Arts Events Director 
  • Special Events Director
  • Cultural Events Director

Essential Functions and Responsibilities of a WEB Events Director
 

--Attend all weekly WEB Director meetings, weekly WEB Office Hours, and other meetings as needed.
--Attend weekly 1:1 meetings rotating between WEB Chair & Advisor.
--Manage frequent email and phone communication with the board and/or agents and artists.
--Finalize contracts with the Assistant Director of Student Activities.
--Communicate with the WEB Marketing Director to ensure marketing materials are put out in a timely manner.
--Set up for, attend, and clean up after events/programs.
