Intern Pharmacist

Description

The Intern Pharmacist will assist with the promotion and delivery of quality, safe, rational and effective pharmaceutical services to the patients and health care practitioners at Desert Oasis Healthcare (DOHC). The intern will use critical thinking skills and exercises independent decision-making as needed for the provisions of safe and rational medication therapy. The pharmacist intern position and duties are designed to develop knowledge base and competency level while performing pharmacy functions under direct supervision of a clinical pharmacist. Furthermore, the intern pharmacist understands and exemplifies excellent customer service.

Professional Duties

  • Understands and follows customer service policies and procedures.
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Performs all duties as a Clinical Pharmacist, however, must be under direct supervision of the Pharmacist.
  • Supports PHARxM™ staff (clinical and technical staff) in their efforts to ensure that patients receive the most benefit from their medication therapy.
  • The intern pharmacist will assist in the management of patients in all PHARxM™ clinics under the direct supervision of the clinical pharmacists.
  • Provide comprehensive medication therapy consults under the direct supervision of the pharmacists.
  • Complies with accepted professional standards and principles.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Serve as an ambassador for Desert Oasis Healthcare and Family Hospice Care at all times and positively shape the customer experience

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent. Valid California intern license
  • Completion of 1 year of Doctorate of Pharmacy Curriculum (PharmD)
  • Current enrollment of an accredited PharmD program
  • Basic Computer skills required
  • BLS required within 60 days of hire
  • Demonstrates excellent observation, verbal and written communication skills
  • At the discretion of DOHC/FHC management, this position has the potential to be a full or hybrid telecommuting position.

Hearing/Visual Acuity Adequate for use with computers, telephone and/or Blackberry. Approximately 50% of day.

Computer Highly technical work environment. Must be able to work minimum of 6 hours a day using keyboard, mouse and monitor.

Reaching Above head 75 degrees approximately 25% of day.

Hand grip dexterity Approximately 40% of day.
