History Teacher (Middle School and High School)

San Francisco Christian School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Middle School and High School History Teacher to inspire and equip students in a Christ-centered learning environment. The ideal candidate is passionate about history and the social sciences, committed to developing critical thinkers, and skilled at integrating a Biblical worldview into the study of people, cultures, governments, and economies. This role requires strong classroom management, collaboration with faculty and parents, and alignment with the mission of SFCS.

Full-Time | $54,500 – $56,000

(Base Salary, with potential for higher compensation based on experience and academic expertise)

Responsibilities:

- Teach middle school and high school history and social studies courses in alignment with SFCS curriculum and Biblical principles.

- Courses may include World History, United States History, Government, Economics, Cultural Geography, and potential AP courses depending on qualifications and school needs.

- Integrate Scripture and a Christ-centered, Biblical worldview into the study of history, culture, government, and economics.

- Foster an engaging and academically rigorous classroom environment that encourages critical thinking and respectful discussion.

- Help students understand historical events, civic responsibility, and economic systems through the lens of Biblical truth.

- Assess student progress through assignments, projects, essays, tests, and presentations while providing timely and meaningful feedback.

- Maintain classroom management that reflects Biblical discipline, grace, and respect.

- Partner with parents in the academic and spiritual development of their children.

- Collaborate with faculty and administration to ensure alignment with school goals and mission.

- Attend and actively participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school events.

- Supervise students during chapel, lunch, and other designated times.

- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and progress.

- Perform additional duties as assigned by administration.

- Be flexible and willing to teach additional courses as needed based on the needs of the school year.

 

Qualifications:

- Must profess faith in Jesus Christ and maintain a personal, growing relationship with Him.

- Must be able to teach from a Biblical worldview and integrate faith into instruction.

- Must attend church faithfully and model Christian living in and out of the classroom.

- Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field (History, Social Science, Political Science, or Economics preferred).

- Teaching experience in middle school and/or high school history is preferred.

- Strong understanding of historical content, civics, economics, and instructional strategies.

- Ability to facilitate thoughtful discussion and differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.

- Excellent classroom management, communication, and organizational skills.

- Familiarity with SFCS’s philosophy of Christian education is preferred.

Work Environment and Expectations:

The teacher must exhibit Christ-like behavior, demonstrating integrity, humility, and grace. Must actively support the mission and values of SFCS. Expected to participate in school-wide activities, chapels, and student mentoring opportunities. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to high depending on the activity.
