Graduate Assistantship: LC Voices & Student Media

The Professional Studies Department welcomes graduating students to apply for the LC Voices Assistantship position. The ideal candidate has completed the COM-L major or a related major and has experience within the 3 media entities on the Landmark College campus. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Coordination:
    • Serve as liaison between station leadership teams and faculty advisors.
    • Conduct bi-weekly check-ins with station managers and student leaders.
    • Support cross-station communication and collaboration.
    • Attend LC Voices Advisory Board meetings as an invited participant.
  • Mentorship & Student Support:
    • Provide peer mentorship to interns and work-study students.
    • Hold regular office hours to assist students with media projects.
    • Support onboarding and training of new student leaders.
  • Training & Operations:
    • Assist students in learning relevant software, technical systems, and
    • production workflows.
    • Support implementation of station manuals and constitutions.
    • Help maintain updated documentation, signage, and job descriptions.
  • Quality & Professional Standards
    • Encourage accuracy, professionalism, and consistency across media
      content.
    • Support faculty advisors in identifying and addressing workflow or
      communication challenges.
    • Escalate urgent or complex concerns to faculty advisors when
      appropriate. Administrative Support
    • Assist with tracking budgets and spending in coordination with
      faculty.
    • Coordinate with Marketing and other departments when appropriate.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of the COML major (or related LC major).
  • Experience in at least one LC Voices entity; experience in multiple entities preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership, reliability, and communication skills.
  • Ability to mentor peers and support collaborative problem-solving.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.

Work Environment: 

Work is performed indoors in an office environment and outdoors where there is exposure to extremes of weather and temperature. Including but not limited to all fitness centers on campus, athletic fields (on campus and rented facilities), Game Lab, and outdoor recreational areas (including a ropes course, disc golf course, and campus trails). Extended activities in uneven and varied terrain may be required. Outdoor work areas vary from established recreation areas to outdoor rock climbing and hiking. 

Physical Demands: 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; jog/run; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; drive a College vehicle. Ability to occasionally lift, carry, and/or drag approximately 50 pounds. On occasion, this position may require laborious physical demand and exposure to extended periods in heat/frigid temperatures.
