IT FinOps Intern
Job Summary: We are seeking an IT FinOps Intern to join our dynamic Tech team. The ideal candidate is analytical, detail oriented, and eager to learn. You will work closely with the FinOps Manager and stakeholders to support the evolution of cloud cost reporting by implementing and analyzing Microsoft FinOps tooling, enhancing Power BI dashboards, and reconciling cloud billing data to improve transparency, accuracy, and cost allocation across teams.
Responsibilities:
- FinOps Reporting Support: Assist in the implementation and configuration of Microsoft’s FinOps Toolkit and Power BI FinOps reporting templates aligned with the FOCUS data standards.
- Billing Data Ingestion: Support the generation, intake, and validation of Azure Cost Management & Billing data exports into Azure SQL Database and reporting datasets.
- Data Reconciliation: Reconcile legacy inhouse FinOps reports with new Microsoft FinOps reporting to ensure data accuracy and consistency.
- Power BI Development: Contribute to the enhancement of Power BI reports, including data models, measures, and visualizations used by technical and financial stakeholders.
- Cost Allocation Analysis: Assist in validating and improving cost allocation logic based on tagging standards, application mappings, and shared services costs.
- Documentation & Continuous Improvement: Document data flows, assumptions, and reporting logic, and propose improvements to reporting processes and data quality.
Desired Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Finance, Engineering, or a related field.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Azure concepts (subscriptions, resource groups, services).
- Working knowledge of Power BI for data analysis and reporting.
- Foundational SQL skills for querying and analyzing data.
- Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail and data accuracy.
- Ability to communicate clearly and work collaboratively with technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
- Professional proficiency in English (written and spoken).
