Learning & Development Internship


About the Role:
We are seeking an enthusiastic and creative Learning & Development Intern to join our team. This internship supports key training initiatives to enhance our Park District's workforce. You will work on meaningful projects, including onboarding seasonal staff, developing mentoring program materials, and contributing to the creation of engaging learning content using basic instructional design – all at a public agency with a mission to promote environmental stewardship in a natural resources-based park system.  

The Learning & Development Internship is part of the Three Rivers Park District’s Pathways Internship program. Pathways internships are paid opportunities offered by Three Rivers Park District that provide young people, particularly those facing barriers to employment, real-world experiences to explore a career in parks and recreation.  The Pathways Internship Program provides an opportunity to explore a specific career area within the Park District and build career readiness skills with a cohort of interns at Development Days throughout the summer. 

 

20 hours a week | $15 an hour
June – August

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Onboarding Seasonal Staff:
    1. Assist in designing and refining onboarding videos and materials to ensure a seamless and engaging experience for new seasonal hires.
  2. Mentoring Program Development:
    1. Contribute to the creation of content for the Park District mentoring program, focusing on leadership development, peer learning, and professional growth.
    2. Research best practices in mentoring programs and propose innovative ideas tailored to our workforce.
  3. Learning Module Content Design:
    1. Develop concise and interactive content to support ongoing staff training and development.
    2. Utilize creative tools and platforms (such as Articulate, Vyond and Canva) to design content that is engaging, visually appealing, and impactful.
