What We're Looking For:

Opportunity: Owner Verification Bridge Inspector for ALDOT Projects

Location: Mobile, Alabama

Project: Mobile River Bridge and Bayway Program

The Mobile River Bridge and Bayway Project is ramping up and HNTB's Construction Management Team needs additional staff.

This opportunity entails being responsible for conducting on-site construction inspections for projects supporting our clients. Provides inspection services for compliance with plans and specifications, prepares required contract documentation, and follows prescribed Owner Verification.

What You'll Do:

  • Observes, documents, and verifies work in progress by the construction contractor to ensure compliance with contract documents and plans. Confirms procedures are followed and material used conforms to specifications.
  • Utilizes Construction Management practices to perform mathematical calculations and measurements of completed work to date.
  • Maintains daily log reports of assigned work activities, contactor labor and equipment, quantity of material received and verified.
  • Assists in on-site material testing and produces as-constructed sketches as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

What You'll Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Construction or Environmental Engineering

Expectation:

  • It is an expectation to be able to perform these duties while working in the field.
  • Capacity to lift heavy objects.

 

What You'll Bring:

  • Understands engineering, geometric, and algebraic principles.
  • Reads and understands plans and specifications.
  • Recognizes, documents, and escalates field issues.
  • Calculates pay quantities.
  • Understands change conditions.
  • Shows proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and other computer skills.
  • Obtains an understanding of introductory shop drawings and submittals procedures and requirements.
  • Fundamental understanding of the AASHTO Policy on Geometric Design of Highways and Streets (Green Book) and Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD).
  • Accepts and applies direction from peers and supervisors.

What We Prefer:

  • Completion of 2 years of post-secondary engineering program
