On-Call Catering Prep Cook

Job Title: On-Call Prep Cook / BOH (Back of House)
Pay: $20–$25/hour (based on experience)
Schedule: On-call; hours vary based on catering demand

Position Overview:
We are seeking a reliable and skilled On-Call Prep Cook / BOH team member to support our catering operations. This role is ideal for someone flexible, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced kitchen environment. Hours will vary depending on event schedules and production needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare ingredients for catering events (washing, chopping, slicing, portioning)
  • Assist with basic cooking and food assembly
  • Maintain clean and organized workstations
  • Follow recipes, prep lists, and production timelines
  • Support chefs and kitchen team during high-volume prep
  • Properly store and label food items
  • Assist with packing, loading, and organizing catering orders
  • Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines
  • Help with dishwashing and general kitchen cleanup as needed

Qualifications:

  • Previous kitchen or food prep experience required
  • Strong knife skills and knowledge of basic food preparation techniques
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Flexible availability, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 40–50 lbs
  • Food Handler Certification (or willingness to obtain)

Preferred:

  • Experience in catering or high-volume kitchen environments
  • Familiarity with a variety of cuisines and ingredients
  • Valid driver’s license (helpful for event support and deliveries)
