ACS is currently seeking a full-time Rhetoric Humanities and Classical Studies Teacher. This teacher is responsible for teaching Ancient Literature, Rhetoric and serve as a Writing Coordinator.

● Has experience with classical pedagogies and a desire to teach in the classical Christian tradition
● Possesses strong written and verbal communication skills
● Enjoys working as part of a team of believers called by God to create a school dedicated to His glory
● Has strong classroom management skills to help good students achieve high levels of excellence
● Is a self-starter with a positive, “can do” attitude and a sense of humor
● Demonstrates a willingness to continue to learn and grow as a professional
● Joyfully affirms our Statement of Faith
● Possesses a bachelor’s degree and relevant teaching experience
Responsibilities
● Classroom teacher for 2 sections of 9th grade Ancient Literature, 3 sections of Rhetoric and serve as a Writing Coordinator.
● In executing these responsibilities, teachers will
o Create a joyful, grace-filled classroom environment where students enjoy learning together
o Develop lesson plans for both on-campus and home days
o Communicate consistently, truthfully, and graciously with students and parents
o Engage students in age-appropriate classical instruction
o Set measurable objectives for students to move towards mastery
o Assess students formally and informally and reflect results in their grade and conduct reports
o Maintain a tidy and orderly classroom, taking care of curricula and equipment
belonging to ACS and encouraging students to uphold the school-wide expectations regarding classroom behavior
o Perform other duties as directed by the Head of Rhetoric including monitoring students at lunch and chaperoning student events
On-Campus Time Requirements:
● Summer faculty mandatory training days will be held: TBD.
● On-campus days for the School of Rhetoric are Monday-Thursday throughout the school year (TBD). Faculty who teach first period classes must be on campus by 7:40a; otherwise, teachers are required to be on campus at least thirty minutes prior to their first class of the day.
● Monthly faculty meetings are held on one Friday of each month from 9a-1p.
● There is a student retreat and an evening open house for parents soon after the start of the school year.

Reports to: Greg Jeffers, Head of Rhetoric
Salary is competitive and commensurate with education and experience. Teachers are paid twice a month from August through May.
