Child Development Assistant

Do you have experience teaching young children? Come join LLCC’s nationally accredited Child Development Center! The Child Development Assistant will perform duties necessary to support the teaching and learning effort of the Child Development Center, including assisting teachers with implementing the daily activities; reporting health concerns to classroom teachers; assisting in maintaining a clean safe and healthy classrooms; helping Assistant Director in monitoring kitchen and classroom supplies; performing laundry duties; and preparing breakfast, supplements and catered meals.

As a staff member at LLCC’s Child Development Center, you can look forward to 7 paid holidays a year, paid winter break, 4-day work week in the summer for 12 weeks, 2 personal days, 15 sick days, and starting with 10 vacation days per year. LLCC staff, their spouse and qualified dependent children are eligible to use the tuition waiver on credited courses. Staff can also enjoy free access to our on-campus fitness center. Starting salary will likely be in the range of $17.07/hour ($35,524/year) and $19.61/hour ($40,803/year) with an excellent benefits package. The person hired into this position will be placed within the range based on level of experience. IF the person hired meets preferred qualifications, they may be placed at the Child Development Assistant II level with a starting salary in the range of $18.52/hour ($35,514/year) and $21.28/hour ($44,253/year) dependent upon education, training, experience and skills in comparison to existing LLCC staff in the same pay range.

Promotion to Child Development Assistant II is available to Child Development Assistant I staff who obtain their ECE Credential Level II. Employees can take the courses necessary to obtain this credential at LLCC at no cost by utilizing the tuition waiver and educational assistance benefits.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two years previous experience in a child care setting.
  • Must enroll in coursework/training to attain an ECE Credential Level II or higher.
  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Ability to obtain Food Service Sanitation Certificate.
  • Current physical and TB test and current record of immunizations including 1 dose of Tdap and 2 doses of MMR vaccine or evidence of immunity to MMR.


Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a criminal background check, drug-screen, physical, and functional capacity exam.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in Child Development/Early Childhood Education or equivalent.
  • ECE Credential Level 4 and Paraprofessional Licensure.

Physical Requirements

  • Carry up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
  • Lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
  • Stand for long periods of time.
  • Walk up to 1 mile.
  • Grip, hold and pinch small objects.
  • Dexterity to reach, bend, squat, stoop and kneel on a regular basis.
  • Frequent climbing (ex. ladders, stairs).

Position Salary
