Position Overview
The Vice President of Operations is a key executive leader responsible for overseeing all aspects of manufacturing, engineering, supply chain, and operational strategy. This role operates at the intersection of executive decision-making and hands-on operational leadership in a highly technical, manufacturing engineering–driven environment.
The ideal candidate brings a balance of strategic vision and practical execution, with the ability to make high-stakes decisions that impact production efficiency, compliance, quality, and long-term business performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee daily operations across manufacturing, engineering, quality, and supply chain functions
- Drive executive-level decision-making related to production strategy, capacity planning, capital investments, and operational risk
- Partner with engineering teams to ensure manufacturability, process optimization, and continuous improvement across complex aerospace components
- Establish and execute operational strategies aligned with company growth objectives and defense industry requirements
- Ensure compliance with all applicable aerospace, defense, and regulatory standards (e.g., AS9100)
- Develop and manage KPIs to monitor performance, efficiency, quality, and delivery timelines
- Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing cross-functional team in a technically demanding environment
- Collaborate with executive leadership on long-term planning, forecasting, and organizational development
- Identify and implement process improvements and cost-saving initiatives
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, or related field (MBA preferred)
- 3+ years of leadership experience in aerospace, defense, or manufacturing environments (preferred)
- Strong background in manufacturing engineering, including familiarity with machining, fabrication, and assembly of precision components
- Proven experience making executive-level decisions in high-complexity, high-accountability environments
- Cursory understanding of aerospace quality standards and regulatory compliance requirements
- Demonstrated ability to scale operations while maintaining quality and efficiency
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Experience working with military, governemnt contracting, or defense-related programs is highly preferred
